Riverfest 2007 is coming
June 10, 2007 - Ralph Iannone and Donna McDaniel paddle back up the Sudbury River during the 2005 RiverFest event. Last year the event was held but the river was too high and fast to safely navigate so visitors learned how to fish and children learned all about Fairy Houses. This year the Sudbury River Watershed Organization, Southborough Recreation Commission and the Southborough Open Space Commission will once again host an event in town for the Sixth Annual RiverFest. This years events include free canoe rides, learn about and how to build Fairy Houses, Nature walk and scavenger hunt on trails in Hopkinton and Southborough along the Sudbury River. There will be a fishing demonstration and a chance to meet Southborough resident Gordon Morrison author of nature books. All activities take place within walking distance of Bridge Street and Wood Street, Southborough, June 17, 2007 from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM. RiverFest is a celebration of the Sudbury, Assabet and Concord Rivers that form the SUASCO watershed. The RiverFest event is sponsored by the National Wild and Scenic Rivers system (for which there are several miles of these three rivers designated as such). Events can be found up and down the rivers on both days, June 16 and June 17, 2007. For more information you can check out www.sudburyriver.org and for a map and schedule of events for RiverFest check out http://www.sudbury-assabet-concord.org/theOrganization/riverfest.html |
