Another one bites the dust 'er the bridge
October 19. 2007 - This truck hit the bridge at River Street (Route 85) this afternoon. It was heading north out of Hopkinton, apparently not paying attention to any of the low bridge signs en-route. Commuter and freight trains were held up along the tracks and then put under speed restrictions to cross the bridge. The bridge usually sees a truck misjudge the height every several weeks. |

Take a Foliage Ride around town
October 19, 2007 - You don't have to go to New Hampshire or the Berkshires to see the foliage. Check out Southborough's hidden roads and byways that you may not have taken in a while. This scene is from earlier this week at the bend on the north end of Chestnut Hill Road. If you criss-cross the roads of Deerfoot, Parkerville, Middle, Route 85, Rte 30 and drive along Central Street the beauty of the reservoir provides a colorful mini-foliage trip right in your own town. Course then you can go to any of the town's recreation or conservation areas, park the car and take a hike. Bring a camera. This event has been a tradition at the Aggie school for years. It is a haunted hayride that is a fundraiser for the Senior class. Money is used for student activities, the yearbook and the senior prom. Underclassmen also raise funds through their snack booth. It is a huge event with people driving long distances to wait in line for the rides. All the scenes through the fields and woods are done by the Aggie students. It's an awesome hayride through acres of fields and woodlands on the Aggie School's 350 acres. Come early and have a great time!! |

Heading Out
October 18, 2007 - These blackbirds were flying in and out of the cornfield and creating quite the noise yesterday during a walk at Chestnut Hill Conservation Land. The colors are turning nicely and if you would like to take a nice hike the Chestnut Hill property is a sure bet. There is parking in the fenced area off Chestnut Hill Road, no bikes, dogs or horses allowed. The agricultural rights were purchased by the town and monies from the CPA are being used to help pay down the debt. |

October 17, 2007 - The paving, sidewalks and new curbing are complete at the intersection of Cordaville Road and Richards Road. This intersection has been the object of many vehicle collisions over the last several years. New traffic lights are the last to be done. But for now Pedestrians and drivers entering the intersection now have turn lanes, crosswalks and stop lines freshly painted.
